In-Universe, the map is to scale with the real world

To us as the players, The Crew's map is scaled down for driving convenience. However, according to dialogue and the existence of railroads and national airports, the characters view their world as to scale with our own. For example: whenever the player drives from New York to Los Angeles to them its an 80-mile trip, whereas in Alex Taylor's eyes he drove the full 3,000 miles.
