Book 30's plot
Less WMG and more logical deduction, but it seems likely that book #29 was meant to be the first half of a Multi-Part Episode, with The Cat Who Smelled Smoke being planned as the second half, which would have been about Qwill solving the mystery of whomever was responsible for his barn burning down.
- To make a(n actual) guess: the person(s) responsible lived "out-of-town" for most, if not all, of their life; in getting revenge against a perceived slight, performed by one of Qwill's frequent visitors, they end up attacking Qwill's barn, not knowing who it actually belonged to.
