• The School is not just for rich, sheltered girls. Instead, it's also (maybe even primarily) a school for rich girls with certain psychological conditions, like mild autism. Combined with Japanese disdain for anything resembling a disability and the status of Japanese women (and particularly High Society types), it makes sense that rich families might want to shelter and/or hide their daughters if they turn out to be not-so-normal. The school itself is an experiment to try and rehabilitate these girls by trying to pass off their mental problems as eccentricity and excessive innocence. There might be an equivalent school for boys, though men are more likely to get away with having a few personality quirks than women in the given context.
  • The fact that Miyuki describes the school as "special" (which can very well be a euphemism for weird/mental) in her very first speech only supports these ideas.
