In this series, we're going to have yet another Retcon and the Emperor of China will be another species than what was established in Paws of Destiny and past works
In Legends of Awesomeness it was implied the Emperor was some kind of avian since he was established as Zan's uncle. And then we got the water buffalo Lu Kang established as Emperor in the series finale. Then came Paws of Destiny where the Emperor Kang Zi and his daughter Xiao were a pair of lynxes who apparently ruled the land for quite a while. To make things more convoluted, the Emperor was a goat in the 4d motion simulator Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor's Quest and in the game Tales of Po, the Emperor is shown with a human silhouette. And since the franchise seems to change up Chinese emperors like the average person changes their underwear, we should expect yet another change-up and see Xiao retconned away, with some other animal as the Emperor of China this time.
  • Confirmed. The emperor is a hamster this time around. Although in Episode 2, Po does mention “The Old Emperor”, possibly referring to one of the previously depicted emperors.

Every time Po goes on some kind of adventure in the spirit realm, a Chinese emperor gets Retgonned from existence and gets replaced with someone else
This is a theory that's been floated around before. True it's implied that years have gone by throughout the movies and the shows, with Bao growing older in Paws of Destiny and Po graduating from Dragon Warrior to Dragon Master but constant revolutionary changes to the monarchy throughout Po's lifetime should result in a very unstable and wartorn country, not to mention it was stated how Xiao's father ruled for decades without any reference to Lu Kang. By now, it's quite possible that whenever Po enters the spirit realm, either on-screen like he did against Kai and in Paws of Destiny or off-screen, he alters China's political landscape as a side effect of his adventures, much like how The Flash causes something like Flash Point or Superboy-Prime changes reality with his infamous "Retcon Punch". And because Po's personal history with Shifu, Mr. Ping, the Furious Five, the Panda Village, and all his other major movie adventures never gets altered, he never fully becomes aware of what he's doing to Lu Kang, Xiao, and who knows how many other Chinese emperors he's put away in an unintended Cosmic Retcon.

The queen is the true mastermind.
She planned the conflict between Veruca and Sir Alfred, in order to have an excuse to destroy the coven, because she considered them a threat to her power.
  • Jossed. The Queen is presented as one of the good guys and is solidly on Po and Luthera's side.
