The Protagonist is an experiment
The plot of the story is that of a parent looking for their lost child, and is thus assumed to be a human looking for one of the kindergartners. However we know that the experiments can have their own children such as the Opila Chicks, the Naughty Ones and Syringeon's Givanium Infants.The protagonist has been stated to be incredibly durable by Banban, surviving the elevator crash, and we know the Givanium experiments are also incredibly durable.
Banban didn't even know he was a Givanium experiment even after looking at a mirror so he might also have the same Weirdness Censor towards the progatonist.
