Gabby is part-cat.
Think about it — almost everything in this show is part-cat, from the Gabby Cats themselves to even the decorations both inside and outside the Dollhouse. The only exception is Gabby herself… but what if she isn’t? What if Gabby is actually part cat? What if her “natural” form had cat ears — but some kind of magic gave her the ability to somehow remove her cat DNA at will, manifesting as her ears coming off as a toy headband? Could her actual form be a literal toy Cat Girl, with her appearance as a human only being a side effect of a magical procedure? By extension, is that why she doesn’t seem to have any life outside the Dollhouse, why everything in the Dollhouse seems to bend to her will, why she is more obsessed with toys than other girls her age, and, most importantly, why the cats are called the Gabby Cats?- Going from this, could Cat!Gabby have been the “queen” of the dollhouse, or at least someone of high importance within her toyline’s lore? This is due to the similarity of her headband with Pandy’s ears and the Dollhouse’s ears, and how every character she meets seems to instinctively know that pinching them does something special, like triggering the “Cat of the Day” segment ( including literal newborns such as Benny Box)
- There’s one minor detail that may go against this, though: in the final episode of Season 9, there’s a shot of the corkboard above Gabby’s desk that shows not one, but two, pictures of Human!Gabby posing with seemingly normal human parents. These however could be promotional pictures for Toy!Gabby, and the “parents” could be actors.
