The movie was legitimately going to be good
Yes, the character designs look kind of odd. Yes, the animation is cheaper than dirt. But, what if, against all odds, the story and characters actually manage to shine, turning the film into an instant classic? It's entirely possible, I mean, nobody has actually seen the thing besides the people who worked on it. Maybe the film is better than it looks (literally and figuratively). The creators will eventually try to revive the series
And the revival will fail even harder than the original.
