The Dogs are not actually evil or corrupted; they’re doing exactly what they’ve been programmed to do.
Some people say that the Dogs are robots that turned on humans, but that doesn’t make too much sense considering how the robots are built; since they’re sole purpose is to kill humans, and they’re terrifyingly good at it, there couldn’t really have been a point where these robots weren’t deadly. What other purpose would those killing machines even serve if not to exterminate people? It would also not fit with Black Mirror's ultimate theme of technology being an extension of humanity's lack of foresight if the robots have a mind of their own. No, the robots were most definitely built by humans to kill other humans. Perhaps the story takes place in a country at war and the robots were sent by the enemy to take out its population?
- In all likelihood drones were finally weaponized and mass produced for war and without thinking warring nations launched hundreds of thousands if not tens of millions of drones at each others countries the world over with programming to kill any living person around, causing mutually assured destruction and total societal collapse.
