In the promo trailer Ariel, is briefly featured playing on a modern-like guitar. This can mean Atlantica is a mixture of modern-day (yet aquatic) inventions and magic, meaning an Urban Fantasy Setting is possible. Relations between humans and merfolk will be more open compared to the films and 1992 cartoon
This can allow for a greater area of exploration alongside chances for Eric and an animated version of Queen Selina to make appearances. Plus, with Ursula being a kind aunt here, it can allow easier (though temporary) shifts.- We might even finally have occasions of Eric becoming a merman (or merboy, in this case).
