Rather, it's what Sara herself would've said, either because: A) she's so far into her Mighty Thor fantasy-life that she's concocted a wish-fulfillment fanfic notion that she could become Thor if she wore that particular plastic helmet, and figures that it ought to work for Mr. Dawson too; or B) she's a lot shrewder than any of the other characters give her credit for, and was deliberately suckering the mechanic into cutting them some slack with her "trusting little girl thinks he's her favorite superhero" act. Or it's somewhere in between the two - she initially really did think that Mr. Dawson was Thor due to his physical resemblance, snapped out of it quickly, but decided to continue playing it up because she realized she could use it as an angle.
