  • Cash-Cow Franchise: The X-Men as a whole are this, but the 1991 X-Men series was the peak of it, and by 'it' we mean the entire comic book industry. As of 2022, X-Men #1 is still the highest selling comic book of all time, with somewhere around 8 million copies being sold.
  • Executive Meddling:
    • Very prominent in the series, and Chris Claremont left the X-Men titles due to this. Those in charge gave Jim Lee increasing power over the direction of the series until Claremont was basically just scripting whatever Lee wanted to do.
    • The series is infamous for its abundance of crossovers, mandated by editors to cash-in on the cash cow the X-Men had become.
