Trivia / The Simpsons S8E9 "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)"

Go To

  • Executive Meddling: Attempted by FOX, who were concerned that young viewers might try Homer's tactic of drinking molten wax and severely burn the inside of their mouths. They insisted that Homer scream in pain after drinking the wax, but the writers instead inserted the exchange between Homer and Ralph Wiggum in which Ralph says, "Wait, mister, you're drinking a candle! You don't wanna get wax in your mouth, do you?"
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to the DVD Commentary, this episode was originally planned for season three, but the animators, writers, and producers felt it would be too weird (and the technology they had back then would have ruined it, as computers earlier in the 1990s weren't sophisticated enough to do that kind of animation).
    • Bob Dylan was supposed to voice the Space Coyote but turned it down.
  • Write What You Know: Homer waking up on a golf course was a reference to something that happened to a friend of the producers, who blacked out, and woke up on a golf course. He had to buy a map from 7-Eleven in order to find out where he was. He discovered that not only was he in a different town, but he was also in a different state. He then had to walk several miles in order to get back to his friend's house, which was the last place he remembered being the night before.
