Trivia / The Simpsons S2 E6 "Dead Putting Society"

Go To

  • Accidentally Correct Writing: Bart's answer to the koan "What is the sound of one hand clapping" is intended to be him Comically Missing the Point, but is actually very close to an actual answer to the koan: simply holding up one's hand with the fingers out.
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: When Lisa trains Bart for the mini golf tournament, she tells him to "embrace nothingness". It would be the only time she said this in the entire series but it was used out of context in the arcade game as though it were her "D'oh" or "Eat my shorts" (partially because Lisa, as the show has even lampshaded, lacks such a catchphrase). It's been associated with Lisa ever since.

  • First Appearance: Maude Flanders, completing the whole Flanders family. This was also the first episode to feature the Flanders family prominently.
  • Write What You Know: Co-writer Jeff Martin was an experienced miniature golfer and based much of the golf-related scenes in the script on his own experiences.
