Trivia / The Simpsons S20 E6 "Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words"

Go To

  • Defictionalization: Every Crossword Puzzle in this episode is a real one, made in collaboration with the New York Times crossword compilers Merl Reagle and Will Shortz, and the one with Homer's hidden apology to Lisa was the actual New York Times crossword on the day the episode was originally broadcast.
  • Recycled Script: The episode is pretty much a rehash of the third season episode "Lisa the Greek", with the following comparison points:
    • The episode involves Homer using Lisa's abilities on semi-illegal gambling and earning lots of money, but also endangering his relationship with his daughter. The main difference is that this becomes a minor part of the plot in this episode.
    • Marge chides Homer in bed for earning money through means she considers "unethical", although this time is about Homer breaking couples up.
    • Homer has a guilt-induced nightmare over the break-ups not unlike Lisa's own nightmare over gambling.
  • Role Reprise: Scott Thompson reprises his role as Grady five years after his last appearance in "Three Gays of the Condo".
