Trivia / The Phoenix Saga

• First Appearance: Several major characters and aspects of the X-Men mythos make their debuts during this arc: Xavier's ex-fiancee Moira MacTaggert and her Muir Island mutant research facility; Banshee's treacherous cousin Black Tom Cassidy and his Villainous Friendship with Juggernaut; the X-Men's Alien Princess ally Lilandra and the Shi'ar Empire she rules over as well as the Starjammers, a heroic band of Space Pirates operating in the Empire; and the Phoenix Force, a cosmic entity with a unique connection to Jean Grey.
• What Could Have Been: Near the end of the story, Wolverine ambushes Imperial Guard member Fang and steals his costume, which he wears for the rest of the story. Had Dave Cockrum stayed with the title after the storyline, this would have been Wolverine's new costume. However, the next issue John Byrne joined the title and a line is put in where Wolverine complains about the costume and how it itches and he goes back to the yellow and blues. Given that Fang's costume was eventually recycled for Wolverine's Arch-Enemy Sabretooth, it probably brought up bad memories.
