• Blooper: This happened many times on the show which was broadcast live:
  • Paul has fallen off his chair a few times, once while dressed as a crab and once not long after he had a heart attack.
  • During one episode's mailbag, Paul received a toy that wouldn't stop coming to life, so in annoyance Paul tried to break it only to smash the front of his desk, he was shocked that the desk was plywood.
  • Sometimes Paul would misread the autocue or they would put something in that would cause Paul laughing like mad.
• The Cast Showoff: Whenever they had a fire eater on the show, Paul who learnt it years ago, had to have a go as well
• Channel Hop: From ITV to Channel 4 and back.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: While a great deal of the show is online a few have yet to resurface, like the episodes where Paul's grandson Abe appeared and the ITV episode where the puppy Olga was adopted by Paul.
• On-Set Injury: Dawn French received a nasty knee injury replicating her famous The Vicar of Dibley puddle stunt.
