• Disowned Adaptation:
  • Black Lightning Creator Tony Isabella urged people to not read 2018 Batman and the Outsiders series, claiming it turns Black Lightning into a sidekick to Batman.
  • Outsiders creator Mike W. Barr had a whole list of complaints about how the third season of Young Justice (2010) has treated his characters.
• Follow the Leader: Owlman was added to the team around the time that DC's parent company released a movie adaptation of Watchmen, and his costume bears a strong resemblance to Dan Dreiberg's Nite-Owl costume in the film.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: For a long time, the only reprint of the 80s series was a black-and-white Showcase edition. This is no longer the case, however, and the series was collected in three hardcovers, though the post-Batman issues of The Outsiders remain uncollected.
• Schedule Slip: The first post-Flashpoint Outsiders series was meant to debut in December of 2018, very shortly after its Poorly Disguised Pilot in Detective Comics, but was delayed by DC, who said the earliest it would ship would be March of 2019.
