• Acting for Two: The coal mine tour guide that Michael talks to over the phone is voiced by Creed Bratton.
• Enforced Method Acting: While some of the fake diseases made up by the employees were scripted, others were made up on the spot and given to Rainn Wilson to read without the rest of the cast being aware of them, so their laughter in that scene is genuine. A friend of Wilson who was visiting the set came up with "hot dog fingers".
