• Disowned Adaptation: Russell Hoban disliked the animated film, saying that it butchered the book. He did find the voices of Peter Ustinov (Manny) and Cloris Leachman (Euterpe) good however.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The film hasn't had a stateside release outside the original VHS run. While it's fairly easy to find online, they're usually sourced from this version so the quality is subpar at best. Though it did receive a DVD version in Japan.
