Trivia / The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2016)

  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: Akira Himekawa have stated that Twilight Princess's length and considerable Adaptation Expansion compared to their prior works is the direct result of the game's age rating. All the prior manga had been written for magazines targeted at a specific school year demographic, which meant they were contractually limited to one or two volumes at most. The same was going to be the case for Twilight Princess until the game received a 13+ age restriction—i.e., exactly one year over the 6th-grade demographic the magazine was aimed at—and forced them to scrap the project. When the HD re-release was on the horizon, Himekawa secured a contract with OneManga to distribute instead, which had looser length and content restrictions of which to take advantage.
