- Cast the Expert: Andrew MacTavish was a retired headmaster, who'd actually taught in schools in the time the series recreates. Overall, actual teachers were hired via open casting calls for the series.
- Deleted Scenes: It was not shown in Season 2, but Aliss Hadley, Lewis Davis and Holly chose to leave as well as Sophia Madisonte.
- Follow the Leader:
- This show's success popularized a subgenre of reality TV involving modern teenagers being forced to endure discipline and lifestyles from the 1950s and 60s, such as Never Did Me Any Harm. It was also airing around the same time as Bad Lads' Army, which was about delinquent young men enduring 1950s military training.
- Without the 1950s and 60s style discipline, the show is also caught in the zeitgeist of 'bratty teenagers being punished' reality television - along with Brat Camp, World's Strictest Parents etc.
