Trivia / Superheist

Go To

  • Chart Displacement: The band only had one single crack the Top 40 in their native Australia, 2002's "7 Years".
  • Creative Differences: dw wanting to move away from the Nu Metal / Rap Metal sound of their early releases and Berger wanting to develop said sound further was one of the main reasons behind the latter's departure from the band in 2001.
  • He Also Did: In addition to the band, dw also has his own independent record labels, Faultline Records and Black Mountain Music. He also owns his own bar (called Whole Lotta Love) and tattoo parlour (called East Brunswick Tattoos) in his native Melbourne.
  • Hostility on the Set: Apart from the music, one of the things that has come to define Superheist's career is the sheer amount of flare-ups and in-fighting between band members, from Berger refusing to play gigs and trying to introduce a contractual provision that the band would be dropped from their label if he ever left, to Joey Biro's drug use and unreliability leading him to go AWOL following their 2003 tour, which ultimately led to his firing and the group's initial disbandment. It's notable that, when dw reformed the band in 2015, most of the former members either had no desire to return or Norton just didn't want to work with them againnote .
  • Money, Dear Boy: A slightly downplayed example, but dw has been upfront about the fact that the band's shift to Nu Metal in their early days was not just because they were fans of the genre, but also because of the commercial potential they saw in the at-the-time exploding nu metal scene.
    • "A Dignified Rage" also counts, as their label wanted a radio-friendly single that would capitalise on the genre's popularity. Notably, the rest of Identical Remote Control Reactions is more in line with the rest of their catalogue, being a lot heavier and more experimental than the undeniably commercial-sounding track.
