• Real-Life Relative: Patrick and Karin (the Dutch couple) are played by Fedja van Huêt and Karina Smulders, a married couple in real life.
• Working Title: While still in production, the film was titled Gæsterne (lit: "The Guests").
• Write What You Know: Director Christian Tafdrup has mentioned in multiple interviews that the story was based off his family's vacation experiences. Just like in the movie, Tafdrup's family befriended a Dutch couple on their vacation with said Dutch couple later inviting them to their home; unlike the movie, Tafdrup's family declined to visit.
