• Banned Episode: In Latin America, the episode was banned late in the game in 2011 (several years after it was dubbed), due to its mockery of Costa Rica. A toned-down redub was produced as a way of getting the ban lifted for it to air again.
• First Appearance: Multiple kids that appear in the "Getting Gay With Kids" group will become background characters and are used as kids at South Park Elementary, such as Bradley Biggle and Heidi Turner.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: Trey Parker noted in the audio commentary that this episode was created after he visited the rainforest and Costa Rica as part of a "Save the Rainforest" event and absolutely hated it. Cartman's opinion that the country "smells like ass" comes directly from Parker. Notably, the person who talked Parker into going was Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
