- Creator's Oddball: Shindou Masaoki's four previous one shots prior to Ruri Dragon (Twin Peach; Sky Claw; Joreishi Rentarou no Yakusoku and Count Over) were strictly battle shounen manga. His final one shot was Ruri, which was published in 2020 and is a total departure from his previous work, considering it's a slice of life manga with a fantasy twist. However, Ruri was the one that finally got serialized.
- Schedule Slip: The manga has undergone several hiatuses due to the mangaka's health issues, and from July 31, 2022 until March 4, 2024, RuriDragon was on hiatus while he recovered.
