- What Could Have Been: Jason went through a lot throughout the years:
- Pete Woods went through many different ideas when designing Jason's appearance for the Outlaw era. Among them we have:
- A design that had Jason wearing Roy's bloodied tunic.◊
- Designs heavily reminiscent of his Arkham Knight iteration◊
- Assassin's Creed-esque designs◊
- Costumes that look like◊ Deathstroke ripoffs.
- For Jason's new emblem, he also went through many iterations Arkham Knight inspired ones, skullsand a particularly memorable one that merged Jason's red bat with a red arrow as a means to honor Roy.
- Mixed with Executive Meddling, Jason was originally supposed to be Hush, until executives got cold feet and vetoed it at the last minute. However, the buzz over the supposed resurrected Jason opened new doors for the character and Judd Winick later brought him back via the Under The Hood storyline.
- Jason was supposed to be the new Nightwing in Nightwing: One Year later but Geoff Johns lobbied to spare Dick of this fate though, resulting in Devin Grayson and Bruce Jones (the writer of the OYL arc) scrambling to write the story, with Tentacle!Jason being the end result. This also resulted in Dick's out of character behavior in Outsiders, as Winick was likely writing under the impression that Jason was Nightwing instead of Dick.
- Geoff Johns also stated in an interview that if he would've been the one to bring Jason back, he would have used the Jason Todd of Earth 2 universe. The story would've been about Jason finding the Batcave after Batman's murder and training himself to take over for him. Another idea Johns played with, was making Earth 2 Jason Deathstroke's Robin too.
