• The Cameo: Several DMFA fan characters who feature prominently in Project Future and similar comics have made cameos in the original comic, though Daryil's appearance only served to make it clear he isn't canon.
• Recursive Fanfiction: Project Future is a fan creation based on Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures (itself inspired by User-Generated Content in Furcadia), whose artist, Amber, surprised everyone by "ruining it".
