• Actor-Inspired Element: The age gap between Michelle and Tony is close to the gap between Fan's and Aarif's ages.
  • At one point, Tony calls Michelle 大爷 ("da ye" ^note The subtitles translate it as "boss", but the term carries the connotations of a wealthy/powerful man); due to her achievements in the Chinese entertainment scene (and the grit displayed during the tough climb), Fan Bingbing was often referred to as "Fan-ye".
• The Cast Showoff: Tony gets to sing a couple of times; Aarif Rahman is also a singer-songwriter.
• Fan Bingbing and Aarif Rahman would later go on to star in the TV series The Empress of China, where they also play a couple: Wu Zetian and Tang Gaozong.
