• Actor-Inspired Element: Jennifer Morrison suggested Emma kicking down the door to the cabin.
• Enforced Method Acting:
  • When Regina is speaking through Snow, Lana Parrilla acted out the scenes first, and Ginnifer Goodwin then mirrored her movements.
  • When August has his face held up against the fire, the flames were real and Eoin Bailey was trying to avoid having his face burned.
• Non-Singing Voice: It is not Merrin Dungey's singing voice whenever Ursula sings. Tiffany Boone, who plays the younger Ursula, confirmed on Twitter that she was not the one singing "Fathoms Below" either.
• Wag the Director: The episode's director was reluctant to film Ariel slapping Hook, but Colin O'Donaghue and Joanna Garcia Swisher insisted they have it in.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Regina's dream about Robin was not in the original episode draft. They added it in late in production so viewers would know that Robin would return at some point.
  • Poseidon's costume had a purple feather boa around his neck. Deciding that looked too silly, they went with a more metallic looking outfit.
