• Forced Meme: Essentially, as admitted by the author, the whole series was an experiment in forcing a meme. At the time, he was a Ph.D. student working on the Internet culture, media research, and audience sociology. Out of this grew an idea to create a web series crammed with as many faux "hauntological" references intended to induce 80s and 90s nostalgia and plant Epileptic Trees among the viewers, and see if it would help the series stick. He called it a memetic "dirty bomb", based on quantity and intensity of the content to sift through rather than (as it often happens with forced memes) on a handful of "cool" lines the show creators try to push on viewers. It worked.
• Missing Episode: Famously, Episode Three. The author has revealed he lost the final version before it was uploaded and decided against reconstructing it from existing footage, leaving a narrative gap.
