Trivia / Mega Man (DOS)

Mega Man:

  • Dummied Out:
    • Code for a simple anti-piracy measure can be found; it would have worked by showing an enemy from the game, and requesting that the player type the name given to the enemy in the manual.
    • On top of 16 different levels of gravity/anti-gravity (of which only 6 are used), tiles can be set to have one of 8 levels of friction or conveyor belt speeds, with only one of each being used in the final game.
  • No Budget: The entire game was programmed by Stephen Rozner in his spare time. When Capcom decided to publish it they tried to be as cheap as possible, reusing part of the box art from Mega Man 3 as the game's box art.

Mega Man 3: The Robots are Revolting:

  • Orphaned Reference: The heavy focus on obstacles like oil and nuclear waste are holdovers from the game's original Eco Man concept and its environmental theming.
  • What Could Have Been: This wasn't going to be a Mega Man game at first, instead being an original game called Eco Man that focused on environmentalism. Hi Tech Expressions only agreed to publish Rozner's game if it became a Mega Man game since the company held a license with Capcom.
