- Contractual Purity: Zara Holland from the second season of the revival had sex with Alex Bowen on set, and was promptly stripped of her Miss GB title. This caused a vicious Internet Counterattack against the Miss GB organisation.
- Cash-Cow Franchise: Averted with the original, but the revival has become such a massive success for ITV that it has expanded into many countries internationally and has gained lots of merchandise, and the success just goes further right there.
- Dueling Works: With Big Brother UK. The original Love Island ended because more viewers were watching Big Brother; ironically, the revival of Love Island has better ratings than Big Brother, so the rivalry works both ways.
- What Could Have Been: There was meant to be episode of Season 5 which was Darker and Edgier in tone, and it would have been far more serious than most episodes, with no games whatsoever.
