• Creator Backlash: Showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have both declared this to be one of their least favorite episodes of the series, an opinion that is near-unanimously shared by fans. In particular, they expressed embarassment at using Matthew Fox's real-life tattoos for the flashback story out of desperation for ideas, and demanded that ABC allow them to set a date for the ending of the show so they could start planning ahead after it was written.
