Trivia / Leaden Sky

  • Creator Backlash: Earlier versions of Leaden Sky (Update 5 and earlier), which focused excessively on gore, have ended up becoming this for Roz, as some of the people who came for gore were hostile to the idea of the game focusing more on the game's story and horror. This led Roz to remove old versions from being available for download
  • What Could Have Been: The shooter elements of the game were significantly more emphasized in the past, leading to several features being cut or altered
    • The story used to revolve around aliens, escaping from a supernatural disaster, invading Earth and bringing the supernatural with them, all while using mercenaries as their human collaborators. All humans had supernatural abilities (even weak ones), with Kyle and his girlfriend (named Lylith then) having particularly prominent ones.
    • The infamous gore system was in effect, with enemies being able to be dismembered in detail, and with them remaining alive and screaming in pain after being incapacitated. This also played part in the torture system, as dismembering enemies and setting them on fire would fill out the demon mode meter, and also heal Kyle. However, problems in performance and development time (as each enemy had to be integrated into the system) led to the gore system being significantly simplified.
    • Weapons could have been carried all at once, instead of only two at the time. They were also rather over-the-top, including an anti-materiel rifle with a second barrel that fires full-auto, a fully automatic double-barreled shotgun with incendiary rounds and a chainsaw bayonet, and a large arsenal of melee weapons.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: Due to people being hostile to Roz for not including the gore testing room in Update 5, and the game generally moving more towards horror and story, it eventually culminated in him updating the earlier versions to remove the gore testing room. It then eventually resulted in him removing the old versions altogether and creating Final Response (which isn't free, unlike earlier versions of Leaden Sky).
