Trivia / Lady A

Go To

  • Breakthrough Hit: "Love Don't Live Here" on country, "Need You Now" on pop.
  • Follow the Leader: Likely what inspired Charles' brother Josh, who is mainly a pop singer, to put out a country album in 2011.
    • Gloriana's "(Kissed You) Good Night" is clearly inspired by Lady A's signature style.
    • In a more literal example, the early 2010's saw a spate of mixed-gender country groups with both similar aesthetics and similar sound to Lady A, including Gloriana (mentioned), The Band Perry, Eden's Edge, and Thompson Square. Lady A could be considered this for Little Big Town, which predates them and has a similar sound to their early years.
  • He Also Did: Haywood and Kelley co-wrote labelmate Luke Bryan's single "Do I" (which was blocked from #1 on Billboard by "Need You Now"), while Scott co-wrote Sara Evans' "A Little Bit Stronger". Kelley also wrote Darius Rucker's "Homegrown Honey".
  • Throw It In!: The entire ending of "Goodbye Town" (most of which is cut from the radio edit) is just Lady A and the studio musicians jamming, and Charles ad-libbing the vocals.
    • According to the liner notes, the bridge to "Slow Down Sister" also came about this way. From its format, this makes sense: in an otherwise-one-perspective song sung by Charles, Hilary jumped in with a line from the perspective of the woman he is talking to, and Charles responded in character.
  • What Could Have Been: Hillary tried out for and was rejected by American Idol in the non-TV rounds.
