Trivia / Jeff the Killer

  • Lying Creator: The story's author Sesseur claimed that the image was of a rubber mask that he made himself. It was later discovered that the image actually predates the story by several years, and was clearly a photoshop and not a mask. To this day the true origins of the image are unknown beyond most likely originating in Japan.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: For a long time, it was believed that the famous image was a photoshop of a girl named Katy Robinson who committed suicide due to bullying on 4chan. This was later debunked as a hoax, with the photo of Katy actually being an image of a still-living woman named Heather White. This debunking later lead to a rabbit hole of the mysterious origins of the original image. The earliest the image has been found online was on a Japanese message board and the original poster later claimed that he grabbed it from a now presumed lost video going around Japan online at the time.
