• Creator Backlash: In the last volume's comments, Tamura admitted that he was not at all happy with how the series turned out and that even he could feel the story was all over the place. His reaction when it was cancelled wasn’t so much frustration as relief.
• What Could Have Been: Tamura had initially planned to make a series from his well-received oneshot Tiger-Dragon Brothers, but he gave up after several rejected attempts. So to change his mind he started working on a new concept more similar to his previous series Beelzebub, which this time was immediately greenlit by his editor. Thus Hungry Marie was born.
