• Backed by the Pentagon: J. Edgar Hoover approved of the script beforehand, and had agents monitor the production. Despite all of this, he was initially hesitant about the movie when it came out, as Brick was somewhat of a Cowboy Cop, which he thought reflected badly on the agency. However, when the movie became a success, he thoroughly endorsed it.
