Trivia / Formula 1: Drive to Survive

• Gateway Series: Part of the reason several drivers have lauded the Netflix series is that it has acted as an introduction to Formula 1 to people who would not have been interested in it before and has gained F1 new fans.
• In Memoriam: Season 2 Episode 6 "Raging Bulls" is dedicated to Anthoine Hubert, who died in a multi-car collision in the F2 race preceding the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix.
• Meme Acknowledgment: Will Buxton tweeted an image of two spectators at the 2022 Australian Grand Prix holding a sign with the "If you finish first, you will win the race" meme written on it, and was clearly quite flattered by it.
• Referenced by...: GRID Legends features a story mode centered around a fictional documentary following the team the player participates in, which is clearly based on the series. The story mode is even titled Driven to Glory.
• What Could Have Been: Two of the top teams, Ferrari and Mercedes, opted not to participate in season 1, so their drivers are only ever seen in the background and there are no interviews with the teams. They both chose to participate in season 2 after seeing the success of the show.
