• What Could Have Been: Don Bluth was working on an Animated Adaptation, but the project was scrapped as his company went bankrupt after the box-office failure of The Secret of NIMH. In his version of the story, which took place in the year 2500, the hero would have been a fugitive from another world who is discovered because of the heroine - he would have been taken away to be put to death, and she would have set out to rescue him.
