- Write Who You Know: "Rooster" was written by Jerry Cantrell for his father, a Vietnam veteran known who'd been known as "Rooster" since childhood for his distinctive hair. Cantrell's lyrics attempted to take his father's perspective, as the family had split apart not long after he'd returned from Vietnam; whilst his father hadn't ever spoken about his experiences, Cantrell credits the song as having helped them grow closer.
