• What Could Have Been: David Gordon's end note mentions that he had a different ending he desperately wanted to use, referencing a much cooler story of Francisco Pizarro's death than the one the final published text did — alas, he couldn't do so as the story turned out to be apocryphal, and Gordon had committed himself to only misleading via Exact Words in this story, never saying anything literally untrue.
