  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: A common misnomer for the series' protagonist was "CaptainVideo", which appeared even on gaming news articles. This name was used for the CommanderVideo look-alike that was unlockable in Runner2, as a nod to the mistake.
  • Development Gag:
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Wii versions of the games are no longer available for purchase individually or digitally due to the Wii Shop Channel shutting down, meaning people who want to play the games on the Wii will have to resort to COMPLETE. This is also the case for SAGA and it's digital version for the 3DS.
  • Milestone Celebration: The launch of the series website a year after the first game was released.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: In at least one blog post for Runner2, the devs challenged the readers to comment possible level titles for the game. With the blog being gone, it's unknown which ones in the final game were fan-submitted.
  • Viral Marketing: Used for BEAT and VOID. As Alex Neuse noted in this interview:
There is a lot of content in the first viral campaign that won't make sense until sometime well into the future. Everything in that video has meaning in CommanderVideo's world.
  • What Could Have Been: In Runner2, CommanderVideo was going to be rendered in 3D with a rectangular body, thinner human-like limbs, and would be a lot more bendy. Problems with rendering the design led to it being changed to be more like CommanderVideo's appearance in RUNNER. The initial design was still able to be used, and was made into the unlockable CaptainVideo.
