  • Creator Backlash:
    • Graffin has gone on record to slam "The Positive Aspect of Negative Thinking" for its nonsensical lyrics, grammatical errors, etc. He also said that the band never plays it live, since they all hate it.
    • Into the Unknown is the core definition of this for the band. The members have openly criticized it constantly, and the album was never reissued until 17 years after its initial release note . Brett joked that they "sent out ten thousand copies of this album and got eleven thousand back".
    • No Substance seems to be this now. Songs from the album have only been played a handful of times since its release.
  • Development Hell: New Maps of Hell was in the works for over two years, and was delayed for over 18 months from its original set release.
  • What Could Have Been: New Maps of Hell was originally planned to be a double album, but was cut down when they felt that there wasn't enough material for two discs.
    • "Honest Goodbye" was supposed to get an official music video, but was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. It later got a live video for the special DVD release.
