Trivia / Ars Magica

  • Alan Smithee: "He" is credited as the co-author of the fourth edition Mythic Seas supplement, though the reason why has never been made public. The fan consensus does seem to be that it’s not one of the better books for that edition, though it’s not all that terrible.
  • Divorced Installment: An unusual example in that Ars Magica was originally its own thing, but Old World of Darkness is a spinoff of this game and Third Edition was part of the WoD cosmology. However, Third Edition was not well-received and when Atlas acquired the license, they split the two games apart again.
  • Exiled from Continuity: Inverted. Ars Magica and the World of Darkness are not in continuity anymore or even owned by the same company, but concepts such as the Order of Hermes and the Tremere appear in both lines. Atlas and White Wolf don't fight over it.
  • What Could Have Been: At one point, the makers of Academagia had an opportunity to make an Ars Magica videogame and ran a kickstarter for it. Unfortunately it fell well short of the amount needed.
