• Troubled Production: The album's release ended up being heavily delayed due to someone stealing the briefcase with the master tapes in them, and Waits having to pay around $3,000 to get it back. He further decided to take a break from releasing music, partly due to personal burnout and partly due to wanting to stave off leaks by releasing it many years later. Ultimately, the album would release in 2002.
