• Acting for Two: Most of Abuela’s family is played by Jenny Lorenzo or David Gallegos (Lorenzo’s husband).
• What Could Have Been: According to writers Jenny Lorenzo and Kevin Bosch, when Jasleiney was originally conceptualized, they initially considered having her be this promiscuous "Ratchet-ass", "Chongalicious" girl, since it falls in line with the idea of her being the exact opposite of what her mother Gloria would approve of. However, it was finally decided that she would be goth instead.
• Write What You Know: Most of the skits are based off (slightly exaggerated) experiences Jenny Lorenzo had as a second generation Cuban-American.
