Trivia / A Family Affair

  • Creator Breakdown: The novel was written after the Watergate scandal had broken and President Richard Nixon's resignation. Let us simply say that Stout was not happy about what happened and Nixon was not on Stout's Christmas card list.
  • Died During Production: The novel was Rex Stout's final Wolfe novel before his death in 1975 at the age of 88. Ten years later, the executors of his estate published one last story collection, containing alternate versions of two Wolfe mysteries and a third one that had originally been published as a story featuring Tecumseh Fox (another of Wolfe's detective characters).
