All spoilers are unmarked.

    Before Arena Blaster's arrival
  • A planet with prosperous technology was visited by wielders of powerful magic, and the respective products are traded, augmenting both parties.
  • The Excavation was created as a passage to an underground facility prior to the latter's construction.
  • The facility proper is created, starting with the Archives that contained immense knowledge, the fiery Eternal Engine called the Bellows with the watery Maintenance System above to cool it, and the Sanctum at the bottom for magical rituals.
  • The newcomers to the facility suddenly wage overwhelming war on it.
  • A powerful being called the Star of Providence arrives, destroying most life in the facility. The mysterious, newfound Power Eternal appears in the deepest depths of the facility, effectively creating a sixth floor below the Sanctum.
  • A council of seven mages is formed from the different schools of magic, to manage the power that remains in the facility.
  • Once the council's authority is challenged by Overlord's rebel faction, The Grand Pyromancer proposes that Power Eternal is channeled into a vessel to display its power.
  • The Grand Mage of the Abyss and the Grand Enigmancer, soon known as Renegade and the Warden respectively, detract from the Council.
    • Renegade barely escapes with one of the four seals made to help power the Machine.
    • The Warden creates the Temple to seal away a being called Chaosgod, and creates most of its inhabitants with the express purpose of guarding the place.
  • The plan to channel the Power Eternal is still seen through. With only three seals, the robot transformed by Power Eternal isn't as strong as the last Star of Providence, but it mindlessly attacked those around it. Unable to give the Machine sapience, the mages kept it in the facility's depths to guard the Power Eternal conduit.
  • The remaining Council disbands, due to the Warden's absence and the destruction that befell their surroundings.

    After Arena Blaster's arrival
Several adventurers decide to enter the facility, seeking out the Power Eternal at the bottom.
  • Arena Blaster is the ruined facility's first visitor. They never get the chance to take the fight to the Machine.
  • Overlord and ??? venture into the facility together as the tenth and eleventh visitors respectively.
    • ??? is the first to fight and damage the Machine, but they are critically wounded by the Post-Defeat Explosion Chain.
    • Overlord witnesses ???'s crippled body soon before becoming the second to damage the Machine. They are nearly killed by the Machine, but ??? gives up its life to save Overlord and force the Machine to seal itself into a monolith-like shape. Overlord presumably claims Power Eternal and becomes the game's Disc-One Final Boss.
  • Null and D-13 venture into the facility together as the twelfth and thirteenth visitors respectively. They briefly spar with each other at the end of the game's tutorial before they enter the first floor.
    • Null manages to defeat Overlord, break the four seals blocking off the sixth floor, destroy the Machine, and claim Power Eternal.
    • D-13 arrives to the conduit and is faced with Null becoming the newest Star of Providence, Monolith, and turning on D-13. D-13 defeats Monolith, but at the cost of Null's life. They then break the terminal at the bottom of the facility to prevent what happened to Null from ever being repeated.
  • The new hampering of Power Eternal's influence further marks the end of the war fought in the facility.
