- The Axiom brings forth the gods of creation, Izanagi and Izanami, who shape the very foundation of Remnant. The first animals appear.
- Following the birth of Kagutsuchi, the god of fire, Izanami dies and is sent to the Underworld. Izanagi tries to save her, only to gaze upon her deformed state and incurred her wrath. Later, many other deities, including Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano'o, are brought into existence.
- The three sibling gods create mankind and faunas; endowing them with the gifts of knowledge, creation, destruction, and choice. To embody the gifts they had given, they create the four relics and give them to Remnant.
- Nyx, the goddess of the night, grows fascinated with mankind, but this fascination slowly turns to obsession. This results in her descending upon Remnant to bring to them what they desire: death.
- A being called The Messiah comes into contact with an entity known as Es. Together, they become The Great Seal that blocks Nyx from entering Remnant and the Keeper of the Seal who guards the gate. Nyx's brother, Erebus, god of darkness, tries to free his beloved sister, but to no avail.
- In the Old Kingdom's of Remnant, much unrest occurs in the fallout of Nyx's actions. Susano'o blesses a man named Osiris with unique abilities that no mortal possesses. However, he is warned that he must never father any children.
- Osiris, in his elder years, grants special power to The Four Maidens. He finds himself falling in love with one of them, and uses his magic to become younger. The two have an affair, and an accursed child is brought into the world.
Old Documented Era
0 AD
- The child grows progressively more monstrous as he gets older, becoming a monster known to the world as The Black Beast. From this creature, the Grimm are brought into being, feeding off of the negative energy from the fallout of Nyx's actions. The Maiden becomes corrupted, transforming into the being known only as Salem.
- Due to the actions that brought forth the Beast and corrupted Salem, Osiris is cursed to forever reincarnate, barring him from the afterlife.
- Humanity and Faunas kind are forced to do battle with The Black Beast and its Creatures of Grimm for hundreds of years. The people are able to reestablish Kingdoms, but many still fall prey to the Beast. During this time, the Beast emits clouds of a poisonous substance that completely blankets the sky. This time period is referred to as The Dark Days, as well as The Dark War and The Hollow Night.
- The Silver-Eyed Warriors are brought into being by Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu to combat the Creatures of Grimm. The siblings link Susano'o to Osiris and task Thanatos, god of death, to strike at him and cast him out. His soul seperates from his body, which takes the form of mythical armor.
- The Maidens go into hiding and soon fade into myth. Susno'o's spectral being is reborn as a mortal named Yuuki Terumi, who makes it his goal to reclaim his body. During this time, he becomes spiteful to the gods, despising them for casting him out and growing hatred toward Osiris for disobeying him, leading to his siblings calling for his exile. His personality warps, becoming malicious, sadistic, and hateful. By the time he located his body, someone else had already found it. A warrior named Hakumen leads a crusade against the Beast alongside his allies; Nine, Trinity, Jubei, Valkenhayn, and Osiris. Terumi finds himself joining their ranks.
- Nine becomes the first mortal to discover and awaken "The Power of the Soul", also known as semblance. Trinity Glassfille discovers "Dust". Together, she and Nine teach humanity how to utilize and weaponize these newfound tools, leading to a turnaround in the war against the Beast. Terumi decides to see the destruction of the Beast to the end, but thirsts for his vengeance against Osiris. During this time, Terumi meets a young boy named Kazuma Kuval, and the two form a bond.
- Later in the same year, The Six Heroes and the Silver-Eyed Warriors manage to slay the Black Beast, ending the Dark War. After the Beast's death, Salem vanishes from the world. Osiris finds himself killed by Terumi, with Hakumen, Nine, and Trinity bearing witness to the event. Though the heroes fight well against him and Hakumen manages to send him to the Underworld, Nine and Trinity are killed in the ensuing battle. Terumi is now remembered throughout Remnant's history as a traitor, with verses of The Dark War being written to honor the triumph of mankind, faunas, and The Six Heroes of Remnant.
- The kingdoms of Mistral, Vale, Vacuo, and Mantle are founded. The Silver-Eyed Warriors, like the Maidens before them, fade into legend. The Axiom sends a messenger to tell the gods that they must manifest through the Arcana. In doing so, they become servants to humanity. While there are some gods who were happy to serve mankind, others were forced to manifest into the Arcana.
New Documented Era
987 AD
- Mantle imposes laws that mitigate self-expression and individuality, with the belief that doing so would weaken the threat of the Grimm. Mistral follows suit, but lets its centermost areas maintain their identity. Osiris is born anew and contacts Hakumen, offering to preserve him so that when Remnant needs him once more, he will be there. Hakumen agrees and slumbers underneath the earth, with many assuming that he died.
- Mistral and Vale find themselves in a battle over the islands and peninsulas off of Sanus's east coast. This would become the first battle of The Great War.
- The Great War is fought between the four kingdoms, lasting for a decade.
- A peace negotiation is done on Vytal, with The Vytal Festival being created in the aftermath. During this time, slavery is abolished and faunas are granted independence as well as their own continent; Menagerie. After this, the Huntsman Academies are established.
- Nicholas Schnee founds the Schnee Dust Company. Kazuma's link with Terumi leads to him freeing the former god and Izanami from the Underworld, becoming Hazama, Terumi's new vessel, in the process. A dark future takes hold of Remnant, as their manifestation through the Arcana means that there are no gods left to stop them.
- Mantle is replaced by The Imperium of Atlas, led by their new Imperator. Hazama's body stops aging, and his personality warps to match that of his host's.
- The Faunas Rights Revolution is fought, with the Battle of Fort Castle signaling the turning point of the war in favor of the faunas.
- The faunas succeed in their revolution, with The White Fang being created in the aftermath to serve as a symbol of unity between mankind and faunas. They would later become a protest group following various increases in discrimination.
- It is discovered that Dust cannot function outside of Remnant's atmosphere.
- The Imperator pushes for increased military pursuits for the Imperium of Atlas.
- Before his death, Nicholas passes on ownership of the SDC to his son in law, Jacques Schnee. Through him, the SDC partakes in morally ambiguous practices.
- Relius Clover, an Atlesian scientist, is removed from the Atlas military and set to work directly under the Imperator.
- An expansion of Vale, called Mountain Glenn is established. The first Persona users are discovered.
- Mountain Glenn is destroyed by the Grimm. The Imperator's long life leads to rumors of immortality.
- A child named Ragna is born, and on this day, Salem returns to the physical plain.
- Hyde Kido is born, with The Great Seal resonating in response to his birth.
- Yu Narukami is born.
- Jubei is contacted by the vampire, Rachel Alucard.
- Oniyuri is founded by wealthy elites as an act of rebellion against those who ran Mistral. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by a Creature of Grimm before its completion.
- Ruby Rose is born as a Silver-Eyed Warrior.
- Summer Rose is presumed dead after she fails to return from a mission.
- Yang discovers that Summer is not her biological mother.
- Kuroyuri is attacked and destroyed by a Grimm called the Nuckelavee.
- Jin tries to kill his younger sister, Saya, but fails. Both are later adopted, with Jin being taken in by the Kisaragi Family and Saya being adopted by an Atlesian scientist.
- Ghira Belladonna steps down as leader of The White Fang, with Sienna Khan taking over. The organization goes from a peaceful protest group to a violent extremist group.
- A freelance group known as Sector Seven gains some traction in Vacuo.
- Ragna is taken in by and trains under Jubei, though he blacks out during a strange incident.
- Ruby attends Signal Academy.
- Yu Narukami forms a bond with Izanagi, who gladly has him as his master.
- Hyde awakens the power of "The Indulgence of Insulation", with The Great Seal resonating in response to this event.
- Cinder Fall forms an alliance with the White Fang general named Adam Taurus. Cinder and her associates ambush the Fall Maiden known as Amber, with Cinder taking a portion of her powers. She is interrupted by Qrow Branwen before the process could be completed.
- Team HRRN is formed.
